The German Grand Prix at the legendary Hockenheim Circuit both old and new layouts has seen some great and captivating  moments.

Such as when Nelson Piquet colliding with Eliseo Salazar while lapping him at the new Ostkurve chicane, approaching Salazar, and then punched and kicked Salazar in a rage, which continued for some time after the collision.

1981, On Lap 21, the lead changed when Prost was overtaken by Jones as the duo were lapping Arnoux, overtaking both cars on entry to the Sachs-Kurve

In 1992, On the last lap, Riccardo Patrese spun off whilst trying to pass Ayrton Senna for second position. He would end up being classified in eighth position. Mansell held on for the race victory, ahead of Senna in second, whose McLaren car ran out of fuel shortly after crossing the finish line and Michael Schumacher in third.

Or more recently, with Sebastian Vettel Ferrari driver Vettel had been in charge of his home race, and looked destined to extend his lead in the standings to as many as 21 points before his stunning, title-deciding mistake. The flashpoint came with just 15 laps of the Hockenheim race remaining. Following a rain shower, Vettel lost control of his car in the slippery conditions at the slower-speed stadium section, and skidded across the track, and into the gravel, before hitting the tyre wall.
